What is acúmen?
Simply you can say it (intelligence, sharpness, proactiveness). Acúmen is a terminology which is used when to judge all things of a person related to his mind set that what is his mind? Set and what he can do? And his strategy to do things how big plans he has in his life? How his adopting new era and hoe is he tackling with problems?? In more simple way it can be defined that what is the approach of a person to do things I life for any objective.
Clarifying the concept
In our routine life everyone has some plans to achieve his life goals. Nature has given acúmen as an unmatchable gift to all humans on earth. Living in our limits and in our given controls we can do what we want and what we think, but to this we need mind set. This is one point agenda which can change this world. Our mind set is another name of acúmen. We have so many examples in this planet that humans have done such unexpected and unmatchable innovations that were not before that on this earth and this was all because of acumen of those individuals.
Examples in history of using acúmen
- Printing press
The first printing press with a mechanical press was developed by a muslin inventor (al muqtadir) although this story is related to a European inventor but in actual this was invented by Muslim inventor. He used all his intelligence, excellence and sharpness to invent this printing press and to serve humanity he did hard work day and night and acted upon all his efforts and his nature gifted qualities, all this worked into an alignment and finally brought this invention in front of humans.
- Al gebra
Al gebra is branch of mathematics that uses letters and symbols to represent numbers ad solve equations, was developed by a Muslim mathematician AL-Khwarizmi in 9th century the word “algebra” means reunion of broken parts. Now in this world all persons related to math know importance of algebra and as you know that math is mother of science and in this topic of math algebra has very unique importance, all this has come into existence because of usage of acúmen.
- Clocks
This is also another great example of usage of acúmen. The first mechanical clocks was developed by Islamic world in 9th century. The most famous of these was the water clock, which used a series of bowls to measure the passage of time, late Muslim inventor al jazari developed a range of sophisticated mechanical clocks, including elephant clock, which featured moving figures and could tell time accurately.
- Hospitals
The first hospitals as we know them was developed in Islamic world during 9th century, the first hospital was founded in Baghdad Muslim physician ( al,razi ) and it provided free health care to all patients regardless of what very is their social status either lower class or high class. Muslim hospitals was famous was its cleanliness and they had highly focused on patient care highly caring staff including nurses.
- Surgical instruments
Muslim physicians such as AL zahrawi and ibn e sina developed a range of surgical tools including forceps and surgical scissors.
- Navigation
Muslims scholars used their acúmen and developed techniques for celestial navigation. Which was used for exploration, for determining altitude, also Muslim sailors developed maps and charts that were used in navigating seas.
- Toothbrush
This is a very unique example which this world is using in his daily life on daily basis. The modern toothbrush was invented by Muslim scientist and scholars, ibn al-nafis, in the14th century. He used combination of horse hair and miswaak, a, a twig from Salvador pesica tree to create such a toothbrush which should be effective and cleaning teeth.
